With the release of Battlefield Hardline being just a couple of months away, EA and Visceral Games announced that from February 3rd to February 8th gamers will be able to test out the game with an open beta. This beta will be available to everybody on PC(Origin), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. Japanese players that wish to play will have to wait until February 4th to start playing on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

Players accepting the challenge will be have access to 3 different multiplayer maps and modes. First mode is Hotwire that has criminals stealing a list of marked cars and cops trying to repossess these same cars. You will be able to play it on 2 different maps: Downtown and Dust Bowl. Be warned, this mode will require teamwork and top-level driving.

The ever popular Conquest mode from previous Battlefield will be available to play on the Dust Bowl map with up to 64 players art once. Joining these 2 modes is the Heist Mode on the Bank Job map, pretty much self-explanatory.

If you liked playing Commander on BF4 you will like the hacker mode which lets players control the environment around them and set traps. This mode will be available on all modes. Speaking of Battlefield 4, returning players will have a special dog tag when playing the beta that will unlock on the next patch for the game.

The beta will have a 10-11Gb download for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Older generation consoles will be small 4Gb download. You can pre-load the beta on PC(Origin) beginning Monday, February 2 at 10 AM PST. PC, PS4 and Xbox One owners will be the capable to play 64 players on Conquest and 32 players for the 2 other modes. However, Xbox 360 and PS3 owners will only be able to play with 24 players in all modes. A nice little touch that is different from previous betas is that there will be no level cap, but progression doesn’t transfer when the game comes out on March 17th.

I played Battlefield 4 and this seems like it might be a nice change of pace from previous games. I will be playing the beta when it’s available and bring my impressions later next week. In the mean while, Tell me what you think about the game. Are you hyped? Doesn’t this seem like the right direction to go? Speak your mind in the comments below!
